On-Line Blues Radio

What tunes really get you in the Blues Groooove

On-Line Blues Radio

My favorite station on the internet of those that I have discovered is "Classic Blues Radio" on the Live365 network: http://www.live365.com/stations/dj_ron

Lots of great classic blues, and the play list seems to change frequently. You need to download the live365 player to play it. Live365 intersperses ads into the broadcast if you want it for free, though I find it tolerable if the station is good enough. And this one certainly is (to me, anyway). The yehoodi station on which tinadiva is guest-djing this month is also on Live365.

What other stations do you listen to?

i'll have to check that one out. I haven't actually listened to it in a little while, but station i use a lot is this Korean station. They play a freakin' sweet mix, and a good bit of delta blues (their station identification uses Robert Johnson's CrossRoad Blues) I admit, i don't know very many internet radio stations, but those Koreans do it right.

www.bluesbeforesunrise.com is an awesome show. It only runs Saturday night from midnight to 4 AM Chicago time. I have learned so much about the blues from this show with it's themes and the host often talks about the various artists.

Blues Before Sunrise is one of, if not the, best radio show dedicated to Blues on the air today.

It appears on most major cities' National Public Radio or equivalent channel.

In order to add the live365 station to iTunes (much like adding Yehoodi Radio) Choose "Open Stream" under the "Advanced" menu in iTunes.
Then paste (this rediculously long and tedious) URL

http://www.live365.com/play/32341?LID=7 ... &pid=40588

I'm sure most have figured this out already, but I thought I'd just share

The local NPR station has a blues show on Mondays that I'm semi-devoted to called "Blue Monday" (imaginative folks they are). Check them out at KUT Radio on the internet.

I've been listening to this station this morning. Very good mix, indeed! Thanks.

I'll likely have to wait a few weeks before I'll be able to catch Blues Before Sunrise, as it appears that archives of their shows are not available.

We have a public radio station in Dallas, KNON, which has a couple of programs that are great to listen to.

10am - noon - R&B type blues, different DJ's every day. more DJ talking than probably I would like, but it does give you personalities to go with the music. And I love the music they play, very soulful.

6pm - 8pm - Texas Blues Radio, more texas style blues. different DJs every day.

The amount of radio airtime for Blues music in the UK is pitiful, just one hour a week that I know of on national radio, that's at 8pm (UK time) on BBC Radio 2, you can listen to last week's program at, http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio2_a ... paul_jones but you'll need the dreaded Real player
